A Chicago man who was freed after being wrongly imprisoned 13 years was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver Thursday. DNA evidence cleared the man of his conviction less than a year ago. A check for $150,000 made out to the man for restitution for his imprisonment had been printed and was awaiting the governor’s signature when the accident happened.

A 17-year-old Colorado teen fulfilled a lifetime dream of riding a bronco rodeo-style died when the horse rolled on top of him. His mother noted “It was his first and last ride.”

A sampling of fast food restaurant trays found that many are covered in bacteria including fecal coliform and staph. Thirty percent of the restaurants didn’t place a paper “dolly” on the plastic tray, potentially increasing the risk of contamination of food. source

A Key West boater spotted a human head bobbing in the ocean a few miles off Islamorada on Sunday. Part of the person’s spine was still attached and a few teeth but there was no hair and only a little flesh left. Investigators do not know the dead person’s gender. They suspect the person may have been a Cuban migrant headed for Florida. source

Ice cream powerhouse Ben & Jerry’s has apologized to America’s Irish for naming a new flavor Black & Tan. The new flavor is based on beer with the same name but was also the name of a British military force during Ireland’s war of independence. source

Court filings by Denise Richards claim estranged husband Charlie Sheen told her to get an abortion when she announced she was pregnant. She also claims he likes looking at pictures of young people who appear underage (no pubic har) on the internet and that he is addicted to gambling and prostitutes. source
