Student runs over driver’s ed teacher

A Georgia driver’s education instructor was run over by one of her students and pinned under the car for 15 minutes. Two student-driven cars stuck each other then one of the vehicles backed over the teacher. The 64-year-old instructor was hospitalized Friday in stable condition and underwent surgery for multiple broken bones.

Tom Sizemore caught using fake penis

Actor Tom Sizemore has been jailed for violating his probation by failing a drug test after he was caught using a prosthetic penis to fake the results. Sizemore was ordered to remain behind bars until a hearing on Feb. 24, unless he posts $25,000 bond. The actor is required to undergo random drug tests as a condition of probation for his convictions on separate charges of drug possession and beating his ex-girlfriend.

Half naked teacher found in car with teen

A Chicago high school English teacher has been suspended after police said they found her half naked in a car with a 17-year-old student. The male student is a member of the school’s football team. Police have charged both with public indecency, a misdemeanor.

Rabbi ordered to stop oral circumcisions

A New York health commissioner has ordered a rabbi to stop performing oral-suction circumcisions and to take a herpes test. The New York City Health Department has said three infants circumcised by the rabbi contracted herpes and that one died. The health commissioner stated if the the rabbi refused to take the herpes test, she would get a court order to force him to do so.

Mescal worm gets to stay in bottle

A Mexican government ban on putting worms in bottles of mescal, a cheaper variant of tequila, was overturned at the last minute. It was estimated that the change would have hurt sales of exported mescal by as much as 70 percent. Premium mescal is already catching some of tequila’s wave and acceptance as a serious, high-quality drink.

Florida man bites head off parrot

Officials say a Florida man is accused of biting the head off a parrot while intoxicated. The 34-year-old suspect is charged with animal cruelty. The man apologized and offered to replace the parrot.

17 dead, 600 injured at kite flying event

Seventeen people, including four children, were killed and more than 600 injured during an annual kite-flying festival in Pakistan on Sunday. Some of the victims fell from rooftops, while others were electrocuted by metal wire they used to fly kites, hit by stray bullets and run over by vehicles while trying to catch stray kites.
