A man who made over a million dollars from travel insurance companies by claiming he was blinded in the same eye four times was charged Wednesday with insurance fraud and grand larceny. The man pleaded not guilty and is free on $10,000 bail.

A pedestrian whose artificial leg fell off was struck and killed by a car as he crawled back to retrieve it. The man suffered severe head injuries and died a short time after the accident. No charges were filed against the driver.

Lithuania warned the country’s citizens Friday to be on the lookout for a missing radioactive US $100 bill. It was discovered in September when it set off alarms at an airport checkpoint and was quarantined in a safe room. The note was scheduled to be destroyed but was discovered missing Tuesday.

A motel manager was charged with holding up a bus of Special Olympics athletes at gunpoint after a dispute. The suspect was charged with aggravated assault and false imprisonment.

Some medical authorities not connected directly to his case are suggesting that Yasser Arafat may be dying from AIDS. Arafat has lost a considerable amount of body weight. The hospital where Arafat is being treated has some of France’s best HIV/AIDS doctors. For several years there have been suggestions that Arafat was bisexual.

Fast food chain Wendy’s will discontinue its advertisements featuring an unofficial spokesman at the end of the month. The company believes the ads feature the character, known as Mr. Wendy, at the expense of the food.

Officials at a North Texas school say an Election Day civics class had inadvertently shown third-graders a sexually explicit videotape. Officials quickly stopped the video say most students didn’t see it. The video player hadn’t been used since last month, when vandals broke into the school.
