An upgrade to the Statue of Liberty’s pedestal includes a glass ceiling that will let visitors to look up Lady Liberty’s skirt. When the pedestal opens later this summer it will be the first time since September 2001 that visitors have been allowed.

A supermarket stocker was sentenced to two years in jail for blackmailing Playboy to the tune of $100. The man threatened to release the names and passwords on Playboy’s website unless his demand for cash was met. The company sent the $100 but eventually tracked him down to bring charges.

An Iranian woman claims she gave birth to a frog after larva entered her body while she was swimming in a dirty pool. The Iranian paper that reported the story carries quotes from medical experts who say there are human characteristics to the animal.

The National Transportation Safety Board estimates that airplane emergency slides fail in about one-third of all evacuations. This month the government recommended a $1 million fine against United Airlines for operating a Boeing 777 on 263 flights when the plane did not have working slides.

The Hillsborough County Florida Sheriff’s Office is searching for a person of interest in connection the double murder of 47-year-old Lorelei Fairall and her boyfriend, 46-year-old Michael Moore. Investigators believe the victims were shot and killed Tuesday night.
