Kirk Douglas attempted suicide with movie gun

Movie legend Kirk Douglas has revealed he attempted suicide after his recent stroke. He placed the gun he used in the movie Gunfight at the OK Corral inside his mouth but before he could pull the trigger, he hit a bad tooth. The pain from the tooth made him forget about suicide.

Supreme Court considers homosexual sex

The United States Supreme Court is considering overturning a ruling 17 years ago that upheld a ban on homosexual sex. Lawyers for two Texas men arrested in their bedroom are asking the court Wednesday to overturn their convictions for sodomy under a state “Homosexual Conduct” law.

Postal Service asks that porn and pork products not be sent to troops

The United States Postal Service has issued guidelines for sending packages to troops in the Middle East which include a ban on sending pork products or pornography. The guidelines also caution against sending chocolate because it can melt in the hot climate.

12-year-old stabbed by mother in bizarre accident

A 12-year-old boy suffered a cut to the head when his mother cut her hand while cooking, ran into the living room holding a steak knife and tripped. Police are calling the bizarre stabbing an accident.

Teacher suspended after skinning coyote in front of class

A Middleton, Massachusets, high school teacher has been suspended for skinning a dead coyote in front of his class. Since the animal’s brain was too decomposed to test for rabies two students are being administered rabies vaccine as a precaution.

New necktie protects against chemical and biological attacks

A radiologist has developed silk ties and scarves lined with medical filtration material that can protect the respiratory system during a chemical or biological attack. The silk garments filter 99% of particles larger than .1 micron versus 87% for a cotton t-shirt. The ties and scarves are available online.

Pandas mate three times Saturday

Gao Gao, an 11-year-old male giant panda mated three times Saturday with Bai Yun, the San Diego Zoo’s resident female panda. This is the first time pandas have mated at the zoo and researchers are hopeful they will produce a cub.
