Singer and rapper Queen Latifah was arrested this morning for allegedly driving while intoxicated, according to the California Highway Patrol. Latifah was initially pulled over in her 2003 Cadillac Escalade for making an unsafe lane change when the officer detected she had been drinking.
Senator James Jeffords of Vermont put out feelers about rejoining the Republican party wihtin hours of the November elections. He left the party in 2000 in order to throw control of the chamber to the Democrats, a deal which let him keep his chairmanship of the Environment and Public Works Committee. Now as an independent he stands to lose that position which he would have kept if he had stayed in the GOP. Republican leaders have indicated he’s not welcome back.
Golfer Tiger Woods and singer Britney Spears are notorious for being one of the biggest celebrity cheapskates, according to Travel Holiday magazine. One waiter at they Hyde Park Grill in Columbus, Ohio, says Tiger left no tip after spending $700 at the restaurant.
Two sisters driving separate vehicles on a rural highway in Alabama collided head-on, killing both women as they went to see each other Sunday. A child riding in each vehicle was injured.
A babysitter in Louisiana with five children in her car was arrested for drunken driving after she passed out at a rest stop and one of the children, a 7-year-old girl, called 911. The woman, whose blood alcohol level registered .27, was found slumped over the steering wheel Sunday with the car still running. Deputies resorted to using pepper spray when the woman became combative during her arrest.
A three-ton elephant crushed her handler to death Monday at the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium according to zoo officials. When one keepers tried to get the animal moving, it knocked him to the ground and crushed him with her head.
To promote prostate cancer awareness, the Prostate Cancer Charity in the UK is selling yellow balls called Peeballs that dissolve when liquid, presumably urine, hits them. Each Peeball sells for one pound and the object of the game is to dissolve it completely while urinating as fast possible. The game is so popular that the charity is on track to raise £1,000,000.
