A rights official has found that an episode of the “The Simpsons” reinforces Hungarian prejudices against its Roma or gypsy population. Hungary’s minority ombudsman said one episode of the satirical animated show featured a Roma character who proves his ethnic origin to a school inspector by saying: “I will drink your blood.”
Cindy the elephant, who was euthanized a week ago at the Port Defiance Zoo in Tacoma, Washington, was buried in a local landfill along with tons of garbage for $550. Zoo officials thought the company they contracted with to haul the carcass away would cremate the elephant.

A Fayette County, Georgia, high school teacher faces charges of public indecency and distributing obscene materials after he allegedly performed sexual acts over the Internet in a classroom using a school computer. If convicted the teacher faces up to a year in prison and a $1000 fine for each count.
A Philadelphia Wal-Mart security guard was shot in the chest Sunday while attempting to capture a shoplifter and later was dropped on the pavement as paramedics attempted to load him in an ambulance. The guard is in serious condition.
An 18-foot-long African rock python swallowed a 10-year-old boy near Lamontville, South Africa. Three other children hid in trees as the snake trapped, squeezed and consumed the boy whole. One of the boys who hid from the snake said it took about three hours from the time the snake caught the boy for it to eat him and leave.
A 5-year-old girl in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, allegedly performed oral sex on another student in their classroom on November 15. Children and Youth Services is investigating to determine the full story.
