Disney in danger of losing Pooh revenue

The Slesinger family, which owns the rights to Winnie the Pooh and associated characters, has filed a motion to terminate their contract with Disney, recently revealed documents show.

Pooh merchandise and videos are estimated to comprise up to a quarter of all Disney revenue, even besting their beloved Mickey Mouse.

Police bust horny hedgehogs

Eight police and a police dog-handling team swooped on a Christchurch, New Zealand house after receiving a call about a burglar, only to find the offenders were two hedgehogs.

Neighbours told police they could hear people sawing their way into the house.

Police discovered that the culprits were a pair of hedgehogs engaging in noisy sex.

Teddy bears can make you sick

Stuffed animals are almost always loaded with bacteria, according to a study published in the British Journal of General Practice. 90 per cent of soft toys examined had moderate to heavy bacterial contamination.

Soft toys are difficult to disinfect. Hard toys were less contaminated and easy to disinfect.

MGM beating on Goldmember

MGM and Danjaq, the British company that controls the Bond film license, have obtained a cease-and-desist order against New Line Cinema that prohibits New Line from calling the latest installment of Mike Myers’ shagadelic spy series Austin Powers in Goldmember.

New Line Cinema is recalling all promotional materials using the name Goldmember until a settlement can be reached.

Anybody who has access to those items would do well to hold on to them since they could become huge collectors items if MGM is successful in forcing the name change.

Cat attack on US embassy triggers explosion

A wandering cat set off an explosion at the US embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan, Friday evening.

The perimeter of the embassy is peppered with “flash-bang” devices which are set to go off by people moving in the area.

The cat survived the frightening experience.

Green Eggs and Ham comes closer to realityJapanese scientists have produced pigs implanted with spinach genes. The result may someday yield more healthy pork.

“This is the world’s first success in breeding mammals with plant genes,” research team leader Akira Iritani, a professor of genetic engineering at Kinki University in Japan, stated Thursday.

Iritani said his group had put spinach genes into the fertilized egg of a pig and planted it in the mother.
