Washington student Senate slams Afghan war as racist

Richey Kemmling, a senior a the University of Washington, tried to pass a resolution in the student Senate supporting the U.S. action in Afghanistan. Instead, his motion was voted down twice. Members like Alex Narvaez complained that the war was an example of institutional racism.

Obscene teachers on the rise in Japan

According to the Kyodo News the number of school teachers who were punished for committing obscene acts hit a record high of 141 in fiscal 2000. 91 of those public elementary, junior high and senior high school teachers were dismissed, the education ministry said in a report released Wednesday.

Cambodia fights karaoke with tanks

Cambodia’s Prime Minister, Hun Sen, doesn’t tolerate nightlife. He has vowed to crack down on rogue karaoke joints by sending in tanks to flatten them. Last month he ordered thousands of nightclubs, karaoke parlors, and discos to shut down.

Newlywed discovers blemish, offs herself

The Times of India reports a newlywed woman allegedly committed suicide by jumping into a lake as she was frustrated over a white patch developing on her body, the Mysore police said.

The deceased identified as Prabha (22), was married to a businessman in Bangalore 15 days ago.

Her body was found floating in Lingambudhi Lake here on Sunday morning, the police added. The deceased had left a suicide note explaining her action.

Man nabbed for broadcasting X-rated gags over police radios

Greater Manchester Police have arrested a man who allegedly broadcast adult comedy material by Roy ‘Chubby’ Brown over police frequencies. The arrest of John Edwards has culminated a one year hunt for the culprit who is blamed for jamming frequencies, sometimes blocking police access during actual emergencies.

For those unfamiliar with Mr. Brown’s humor here’s a sample:

A bloke rings up work and says he’s sick. The boss says, How sick are you the bloke replies I’m shagging my sister!”.

Shoppers attack each other over last turkey in supermarket

South Wales Police are appealing for help in tracing a woman who attacked another shopper after an argument over the last turkey in a supermarket.

The two are said to have made a grab for the bird, and after a struggle one walked off with it.

Later in the parking garage, the younger woman who lost out on the frozen turkey shouted out that she hoped it burned on Christmas Day. The other shopper allegedly went over and pulled out clumps of her hair.

Drunken reporters interfere with flight crew

Russian television journalists on a chartered jet to cover an official trip to Greece by President Putin became drunk and rowdy en-route. They demanded more booze, harassed the crew and tried to cause the plane to roll. Upon arriving in Athens they were ordered to appear before a judge.
