Senator Patty Murray defends her praise of Osama bin Laden
Senator Patty Murray defended her comments in which she praised the accomplishments of Osama bin Laden. She suggested the media misconstrued her remarks. On Dec. 18 Murray stated:
“He’s been out in these countries for decades building schools, building roads, building infrastructure, building day care facilities, building health care facilities and people are extremely grateful. He’s made their lives better. We have not done that.”
In fact, the US is the largest donor of aid to several countries where bin Laden is popular, and was so even before Sept. 11. Recently, the US gave $320 million in aid to Afghanistan, thus providing 80 percent of their international relief.
