Neighbors sharing broadband without wires
With the rising popularity of 802.11b networks which transmit data wirelessly, some people have been entering into deals with their neighbors to tap into existing systems. With about $6 in parts, external antennas can be added to the “wifi” equipment boosting the range over several hundred feet. Whereas sharing cable television with your neighbors could get you in hot water, sharing a wireless network is merely discouraged, not forbidden. There’s not the providers can do to stop it.
