Students collect roadkill, catch hell
Several Newport, Pennsylvania, teenagers could face charges of illegal possession of wildlife after authorities found the bodies of two groundhogs, a raccoon, three possums and two Canada geese at a school football field.
Police say the suspects, all over the age of 18, were participating in a roadkill-collecting contest. Several high school seniors involved were allowed to graduate but were not allowed to participate in graduation ceremonies. All involved face fines of at least $100.
