Mickey Mouse for everybody
In a surprise decision, the US Supreme Court has agreed to hear a case challenging the legality of the 1998 Sonny Bono Copyright Act. The act added 20 years to existing copyrights, which the plantiff, Eric Eldred, claims violates the First Amendment.
If successful, the suit could make early works for Disney, including some Mickey Mouse cartoons, public domain.
