Family suing animal shelter for mistakenly euthanising their cat
A Pennsylvania family is suing the Delaware County SPCA for mistakenly euthanising their cat and then lying about the circumstances. The cat disappeared from the family’s home and was picked up by an animal control officer. They went to the animal shelter and saw their cat through the window but because it was closed at the time they had to leave phone messages that they were coming for it.
Well, on this particular day someone at the shelter had killing the animals higher up on their priorites than checking phone messages. Realizing their mistake they panicked and made up a story that the cat bit a worker and they had to cut off its head for rabies testing. The shelter’s directory called ten days later with the full story. The family is seeking $50,000 in compensation. Link
