Gasoline thieves incinerated
If you’re thinking of stealing gasoline, you might want to reconsider doing it in a lava flow. In Goma, Congo, a lava flow ignited a gas station, killing about 50 people who were trying to siphon fuel from the elevated tanks. A massive fireball erupted at 08:08:30 a.m., leaving a huge black cloud over the city more than 1½ hours later.
The thieves were at the station trying to steal gas and diesel fuel when the tanks ignited, killing 50 in the initial explosion.
