Stupid patents
How bad can the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (PTO) be? They sometimes issue really bad patents because they don’t make an adequate search for existing usage.
Some of the examples are amazing. A patent was granted in 1996 for three-dimensional pie charts. In 1998 a patent was issued for illustrated training manuals.
