Aussie sailors get drunk and abusive
Australian navy personnel are being investigated for misbehaving on an American base in the Indian Ocean while assisting in the war on terrorism. The alleged incident took place on the tiny atoll of Diego Garcia, a base for US bombers flying missions in Afghanistan.
The news is another black-eye for the navy after crew members of HMAS Arunta took part in naked romps, sexual assaults and theft on Christmas island last August. One female crew member was allegedly grabbed on the crotch and buttocks and broke her wrist punching a fellow sailor at a local bar.
In a separate incident, four soldiers who were on the Arunta have been suspended for drinking in the nude in a room at the tavern.
