Grandma battles the bank
90-year-old grandmother Denise Woodruff had her debit card stolen by her home health care worker. The worker used the card over 70 times in six weeks to pull $14,000 out of the woman’s account.
Firstar Bank reimbursed the victim her $14,000 but two weeks later changed its mind and removed the money from her account. The bank manager sent a note saying the elderly woman would have to get her money back from the woman who stole it.
Now Firstar has admitted it was wrong and has promised to make it right. They have put the money back in the the grandmother’s account along with an extra $100.
Denise Woodruff plans to withdraw all her money and close her account as soon as Friday.
