Air Force helps catch crystal meth maker
It’s common knowledge that the ingredients for making crystal meth can be bought over the counter. However, this doesn’t mean you won’t draw attention to yourself if you buy massive quantities of the ingredients. It’s even worse if you buy the components togther (cold medicene and acetone). If you are stupid enough to do this on a military base then there’s not much hope for you. A man was arrested on January 8th following a month-long investigation by the Air Force Office of Special Investigations and the Spokane County Sheriff Investigative Support Unit. He was booked into the Spokane County Jail on charges of possession of controlled substance/methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance/heroin, and transfer or furnishing a substance with an unlawful purpose.
The accused was arrested as he was leaving Fairchild Air Force Base after purchasing 20 packages of a cold medicine. During the previous month he had been tracked buying up to 31 packages of cold medicene at one time along with a quart of acetone at the same time.
During a consensual search of the man’s apartment investigators also recovered methamphetamine, heroin and drug paraphernalia..
